Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for the research project on “Social Dimensions of Privacy” (360-20-240), which provided us with the opportunity to conceive and realize the present volume. We are also very grateful for the support of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) and the Royal Netherlands Academy for Arts and Sciences (KNAW) for hosting the workshop that brought together many of the contributors to this volume prior to its publication in Wassenaar in January 2014.
